I teach mostly developmental writing and first-year composition. I also direct a summer college readiness program for underprepared incoming students. I have most recently been working on developing strategies for integrating technology into the basic writing classroom through multimodal writing projects and ePortfolios.
Working in the archives with basic writing students has been rewarding and has confirmed for me the importance of engaging students in primary research that helps them understand their own experiences as part of a larger historical narrative.
